Basic SAECO, GAGGIA & Solis Espresso Machine Maintenance
-
SAVE Energy and SAVE your machine. Turn off your SAECO, GAGGIA & Solis espresso machine when not being used for prolonged periods (a couple of hours) - unless your espresso machines has an Energy Savings function. Leaving the espresso machine on will not only waste electricity, but will also reduce the life of seals & electrical components of your espresso machine.
-
Descale your machine every 2-3 months.
-
Do not use oily or dark-roast beans! Oils can stick to the brew group valve or screen, in the grinder chamber and in the doser (potential damaging machine components). Costa Rica Cafe Rey coffee beans are non-oily, medium roasted coffee, non-bitter and sweet!
-
Do not store coffee in refrigerator or freezer! Roasted coffee being porous, will absorb moisture which will deteriorate the quality of the coffee and the flavor. In addition, moist coffee will cake on the grinder, doser, and brew group (potentially damaging machine components).
-
Clean the brew group frequently. Sediments reduce the efficiency of the grinding chamber and block the passage of water which could damage components such as pumps, brew group or its components.
-
Each day when you turn your machine on, make a fake coffee. If your espresso machine is not programmed to rinse automatically, make an espresso without coffee or make an espresso using the pre-ground cycle (with no coffee).
-
After using the cappuccinatore for frothing milk, open the steam valve to let some water flow out. However, if you do not use the cappuccinatore often, when descaling do not forget to open the cappuccinatore to let water flow out from it. Not descaling this part (cappuccinatore) could result in blockage leading to machine failure.
-
After using the steam wand for frothing milk, place paper towel or washcloth to cover steam wand and open steam valve to let some water flow out. With moist paper towel or washcloth, clean the steam wand and frother sleeve. If milk has dried on the steam wand, soak the steam wand in hot water to remove any caked-on milk.
-
At the end of the day, clean your machine.
-
Once every week dismantle the parts of frother to clean and sanitize the parts.

Costa Rica Sustainable Coffee... |
|
|
Costa Rica coffee is produced on coffee plantations that conserve the ecosystems and wildlife and have a high biological diversity. Various species of trees are planted adjacent to the coffee plants to provide 20% to 50% shade. These shade trees provide many environmental benefits. The decomposed leaves produce organic matter that replenish the soil. Mature shade trees provide deep root systems that hold soils in place, helping to reduce erosion on steep-sloped plantations. And, the shade trees mimic natural forest and provide wildlife habitat.
Some of the shade trees planted are citrus, bananas and palm trees which provide a ready source of food and/or income to farmers when harvested during periods when coffee is not being harvested.
Costa Rica coffee is produced with minimal application of fertilizers and pesticides. With shade trees, there is little need to use of fertilizers and pesticides (an expensive commodity). Besides, the Costa Rica National Commission on Organic Agriculture (created by Costa Rica law) promotes coffee crop production using the least amount of agrochemicals.
Costa Rica is commited to protecting its 31% forest reserve areas. Costa Rica coffee plantations, considered second most important to its tropical forests, help clean the air by removing poisonous carbon dioxide, nitrogen and other pollutants.
The use of water at Costa Rican processing coffee plants is limited. The pulp from leftover waste is used as an organic fertilizer. The shell is burned to generate energy required for the drying process of the bean. The use of decomposed coffee tree underbrush is used as a source of organic fertilizer.
It is for these reasons, that CoffeeTico Services™ imports Costa Rica's coffee. Costa Rica's coffee sector is committed to resource conservation, protecting the environment and responding to the challenge of climate change, while at the same time being commercially competitive and producing high quality coffee beans. |
SAECO, GAGGIA & Solis Sustainable Machines...
SAECO, GAGGIA & Solis machines brew one cup of coffee at a time (no wasteful coffee sitting in a coffee pot). Most SAECO machines come with an Energy Savings function, to conserve energy while not in use for prolonged periods of time. SAECO, GAGGIA & Solis machines have a removable brew group for
easy chemical-free cleaning. Fundamental benefits of having a SAECO, GAGGIA & Solis machine at home, office or business is the reduction of trips (oftentimes by vehicle) to a local coffee shop to purchase a drink and the benefits of using a reusable mug rather than a disposable cup.
CoffeeTico Services ™ carries an inventory of repair parts for machines 1998 to current so that these espresso machines can last a long time without being disposed. Refurbished espresso machines help to save the environment by preventing their disposal and they too help customers save money by spending le$$. |
